Campus cleaning standards and expectations have been adjusted to ensure that all high general traffic areas and classrooms are cleaned daily. Cleaning responsibilities for faculty, staff, and students include private offices, open workspaces, collaboration spaces, and break rooms.

There are designated eating areas on campus where removing your mask to eat or drink is permitted.

Although UIC cannot control public transit systems, we aim to have a safe campus with masking requirements, social distancing, increased sanitation, the vaccination requirement, and more.

UIC Healthcheck and UIC Daily Pass are available from any computer, including campus workstations, or handheld devices. You can also print a copy of your UIC Daily Pass to carry with you if you do not have a smartphone.

If a student refuses to wear a mask, ask them to leave the classroom and inform them that they will be reported to the Dean of Students and file a COVID-19 Non-Compliance Report.
If a student refuses to wear a mask and refuses to leave the classroom try to deescalate the situation by taking the discussion outside the classroom or even dismissing the class. This is considered student misconduct and should be reported to the Dean of Students using the Student Misconduct Incident Report Form.
If the student refuses to leave the classroom and is disruptive and the instructor considers this a nonemergency situation, then they should contact the Dean of Students Office at 312-996-4857. For an emergency situation, where the student threatens violence or poses an urgent safety threat, please call the UIC Police at 312-355-5555.

Unvaccinated employees without an approved medical or religious exemption will be excluded from the campus. In addition, any employees who fail to comply with the saliva testing requirements, will also be excluded from campus.

All unvaccinated employees who come to campus, including those with an approved medical or religious exemption, and those who are partially vaccinated, are required to obtain a COVID-19 saliva test on-campus twice per 7-day period, 48 or more hours apart with negative test results, and to comply with other mitigation measures.

If you are a student, faculty or staff and have recently returned from out-of-state or international travel you should report travel using the reporting decision tool. UIC contact tracing will then advise you on the appropriate public health steps. More information can be found here.

Only about 4% of students and employees are unvaccinated with exemptions. The remaining 96% of the campus is vaccinated.
