State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee Election Results

2021 State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee Election Results

An election to select two representatives to the State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee to the Merit Board was to be held on November 18, 2021. Since there were two vacancies and only two candidates running, no election will be required.

UIC Human Resources and the Staff Advisory Council would like to congratulate Caryn Riley and Hemali Shah on being duly elected to serve as members of the State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee.

Caryn Riley, MSW

I am a wife and mother of three, a current member of the UIC Staff Advisory Council.  I have been a civil service employee at UIC for 18 years working in several different departments and in various positions from a CSR to currently Associate Director of Clinical Revenue in the Department of Medicine.  My father is a UIC employee for almost 30 years in the Building Service Department and my daughter is a sophomore student here at UIC.  I am a graduate of UIC and earned my Bachelors and Master’s degrees while working here.  I have a passion for service to others and I look forward to serving on the State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee.

Caryn Riley will complete a vacant term of office, serving January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2023.

Hemali Shah

Hemali Shah graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign and has worked at the University of Illinois Chicago since 2014 as the Medical Education Program Coordinator for the General Surgery Residency Program. Intermittently, she has also assisted the residency programs in Plastic Surgery and Dermatology and the Wound Care fellowship. She is currently part of the Executive Committee of the Association of Residency Administrators in Surgery and recently was awarded the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Coordinator Excellence Award.

Hemali Shah will serve for one term beginning January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2025
