2021 State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee Election Results

An election to select two representatives to the State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee to the Merit Board was to be held on November 18, 2021. Since there were two vacancies and only two candidates running, no election will be required.

UIC Human Resources and the Staff Advisory Council would like to congratulate Caryn Riley and Hemali Shah on being duly elected to serve as members of the State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee.

Caryn Riley, MSW Heading link

I am a wife and mother of three, a current member of the UIC Staff Advisory Council.  I have been a civil service employee at UIC for 18 years working in several different departments and in various positions from a CSR to currently Associate Director of Clinical Revenue in the Department of Medicine.  My father is a UIC employee for almost 30 years in the Building Service Department and my daughter is a sophomore student here at UIC.  I am a graduate of UIC and earned my Bachelors and Master’s degrees while working here.  I have a passion for service to others and I look forward to serving on the State Universities Civil Service Advisory Committee.

Caryn Riley will complete a vacant term of office, serving January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2023.
