Virtual Town Hall Key Takeaways Heading link

On January 19th, 2022, a virtual town hall was held for all UIC students, faculty, and staff. Its primary focus was discussing and answering questions regarding the concerns of returning to campus this Spring semester, as COVID-19 has brought upon a lot of confusion and frustration.

The University would like everyone to know that it is safe to return to campus with their vaccination and mask policies in place. Specifically, masks are the best form of defense against transmission which aided in the decreasing positivity rate on campus.

Recently, the CDC changed their guidelines; however, UIC only slightly deviates with its requirements. UIC is still requiring a 10-day isolation period when testing positive for COVID-19, regardless of being symptomatic or not.

Lastly, hybrid work options will remain dependent on the operational needs of the department. More information can be found at hr.uillinois.edu as well as reviewing the campus telecommuting policy.

UIC All Employee EXPO 2022 Heading link

Every year, the Staff Advisory Council hosts the All-Employee EXPO, “Know Your Resources”; however, due to the pandemic, it will be virtual this year.

On March 1st-3rd and 8th-10th, multiple workshops will be held for employees to attend via Zoom. The workshops would involve exhibitors from 3 main categories: Services, Retirement, and Professional Development. If you are unable to attend a workshop the first week, it will be repeated during the second week. Also, all workshops will be recorded in case the session is missed.

Workshops will be held between the hours of 11am-2pm. An exact schedule and the opportunity to register will be emailed in the following weeks.

Farewell to Chancellor Amiridis Heading link

Congratulations to Chancellor Michael Amiridis on being named president of the University of South Carolina. Although this news is quite bittersweet for the University, we must recognize that this is a well-deserved opportunity for the sixth chancellor of UIC.

Since beginning at UIC in 2015, Chancellor Amiridis has had Significant achievements such as setting the highest enrollment record at UIC, acquiring John Marshall Law School, creating Chicago’s first public law school, and breaking the record for most research awards. His warmth and extraordinary service to UIC will be missed.
