Welcome to the 2024 Council of Councils!
On its 26st annual gathering, the University of Illinois at Chicago has the great privilege of hosting this year’s Council of Councils.
From its humble beginnings as a luncheon and Civil Service Day program bringing together the NIU Civil Service senate and council members, council members from Chicago State University, and council members from Governors State University in 1996, this conference has blossomed into a large networking opportunity and professional conference with 14 separate Illinois institutions participating.
This year’s keynote speaker will present on how what we do together can make a difference “All Together Extraordinary.”
You will learn how to motivate those around you to give the best of themselves every day. The afternoon breakout sessions will discuss Work-Life Balance, Creating a Mentorship Program, Team Building/Group Development, and Mental Health Resources. There will also be updates from SUCSS, SURS, and SUAA.
Councils of Councils Conference Heading link
The Council of Councils Conference will take place on Friday, October 25, 2024, at Student Center East, 3rd floor Illinois Room B, 750 S. Halsted Street, Chicago, IL 60607, beginning at 8 a.m. and concluding at 4:00 p.m. This year’s conference theme is “All Together Extraordinary.” Guest speakers and breakout sessions are focused on team building, improving performance, and ways to promote an inclusive environment. Representatives from the State Universities Retirement System (SURS), State Universities Civil Service System (SUCSS), and State Universities Annuitant Association (SUAA) will provide updates. A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided for all attendees.

If you serve on a council or committee that represents civil service employees at a state of Illinois institution and you would like to attend the Council of Councils, please register. Registration begins on August 5th through October 4th. Registration is open to any council representative serving on their institution’s board/senate/council and to all EAC members.
