Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Blacks (CCSB)

The Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Blacks promotes the academic, professional, cultural and social development of Black faculty, staff, and students at the University of Illinois at Chicago. They are devoted to:

  • Communicating the concerns of the Black community at UIC to the administration
  • Cultivating a positive, fair environment where Blacks may have successful UIC experiences
  • Developing university programs that provide quality opportunities and courses to the Black community
  • Strengthening UIC’s connections with Black alumni and communities throughout the Chicago-land area

Members of CCSB can work in a variety of subcommittees each with a different purpose. Subcommittees focus on

  • Representation
  • Climate
  • Policies
  • Services
  • Practices that affect Black faculty, staff and students
