Located on the west side of campus, the UIC Children’s Center provides early childhood education to the preschool children of UIC students, faculty, and staff.
The Children’s Center emphasizes that children learn through play which allows children to explore and make connections about the world. Their ideology creates an environment for kids to gain skills necessary to become productive members of society
Children here will be able to:
- Develop language skills, confidence, and independence
- Share their ideas, curiosity, and resourcefulness
- Explore literacy, mathematics, and science
- Develop positive self-esteem, self-regulation, and empathy
Teachers encourage the children to think and solve problems while they carefully plan the classroom environment, materials, and activities based on the child’s development, interests, abilities, and cultural influences.
