UIC Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC)

The DSCC partners with Illinois families and communities to help children and youth with special healthcare needs connect to services and resources. It is an essential piece of the public outreach mission of UIC, having unique access to resources and research to assist Illinois families and children with special healthcare needs.

A big part of meeting the needs of children is meeting the needs of their families and caregivers. That’s why the care is family-centered and focuses on:

  • Partnering with you
  • Listening to your needs and preferences
  • Tailoring a plan to best help you move forward

The care can begin as early as getting a diagnosis and continue on to transitioning your child into adulthood. Along the way, special medical care can be arranged, along with ensuring you make the most out of your insurance plan.

There are 11 regional offices that have the experience, knowledge and networks to cater to your needs.
